Restorative Pediatric Dentistry

Ready to give your child a calm, confident smile?

Why Choose Mini Tooth Kids Dentistry For Your Restorative Pediatric Dental Needs

Dr. Ava assesses the integrity of baby and adult teeth and gums and intervenes when necessary to ensure their lifetime health.  Sometimes simple restorative dental procedure like dental filling or crowns is to remove the decay and preserve the baby teeth for longer life. Primary Teeth are really important for your little one, and teeth are also related to speech, eating, growth development, smile and self confident.

Baby teeth are as important as adult teeth. As a trained pediatric dentist, she blends artistry and precise restorative procedures to full-mouth rehabilitation to help her patients regain their smiles, their bites and ultimately their confidence.

Tooth Extractions

With a long-term care plan in mind, Dr. Ava will determine if a tooth is standing in the way of other tooth development or the overall bite or jaw development.

Whether it is a baby or primary tooth that cannot be saved, is infected, crowded, or over-retained, she will evaluate when it is the best time to remove the tooth.

Space Maintainer

A space maintainer is a customized appliance used to preserve the space needed for permanent teeth to erupt when a baby tooth has been extracted.

There should be one permanent tooth developing underneath each baby tooth. Primary detention plays an important role in growth and development by keeping the space needed for permanent teeth.

However, if a baby tooth must be removed or is lost prematurely, a space maintainer can prevent space loss and keep room for the adult tooth to come in properly. Without a space maintainer, the permanent teeth may become crowded and could increase the amount of time needed for future braces.

Root Canal Therapy

Root canal therapy isn’t just for adults; babies and children can experience gum and root conditions, too. For children, this can only be done by a trained pediatric dentist.

Dr. Ava can perform pulpotomy and pulpectomy root canal therapies to address these issues. In many cases, removing dying pulp from the innermost part of the root can save the long-term viability of the tooth and avoid extraction. It also allows healing of abscesses or root infections.

Dental Fillings

Dental fillings are one of the simplest treatments for cavities. Tooth decay can cause pain and may lead to infection if left untreated. A dental filling is an easy and affordable way to stop decay from progressing and protect the tooth from further damage.

Silver Crowns

Dr. Ava is trained to place silver-colored (stainless-steel) crowns and white zirconia crowns. When it comes to cosmetic dentistry, some parents prefer not to use silver crowns, and white zirconia crowns are one option. However, zirconia crowns are technique-sensitive and may take the doctor longer to prepare.

The choice depends on the child’s level of cooperation and the size of the decay. Please ask Dr. Ava for more information about white zirconia crowns if you are interested.
